Panama has two seasons: the dry season (December to April) and the rainy season (May to November). "Rainy season" sounds worse than it is — typically it rains for a few hours in the afternoon, while the rest of the day is sunny.
Regional climate overview

|---|---|---|
| Panama City (Pacific) | 28–32°C | Humid, afternoon rain in wet season |

Outside the hurricane zone
Panama lies outside the hurricane zone — an important point for long-term planners. Earthquakes are rare and usually mild. Volcanic activity exists only in the Boquete area (Volcán Barú), without acute danger.
Biodiversity
Panama is home to over 10,000 plant species and more than 1,000 bird species. Ecosystems range from coral reefs to cloud forests. For nature lovers, Panama is one of the world's most fascinating countries.
